JERUSALEM (JTA) — Richard Goldstone was honored with a human rights award.

The South African judge, who led the commission that accused Israel
and Hamas of committing war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity
in last winter’s Gaza war, on Thursday won the Stockholm Human Rights
Award, the French news agency AFP reported.

The prize is awarded by the International Legal Assistance
Consortium, the Swedish Bar Association and the International Bar
Association for “an outstanding contribution to promotion and
protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms,” according to AFP.
